Asbestos was commonly used in building materials from the post-world war 2 era up until the late 1980’s. Asbestos material could be found in a wide range of products, from fibro sheeting, vinyl floor tiles, insulation, and even household items such as blow dryers.
You might be mistaken to think that the same asbestos containing products were used interchangeably between Sydney homes and Sydney industrial buildings. While many of the asbestos products were used in both building types, industrial buildings contain a wider range of asbestos products you may never come across in your residential property.
These may include items such as asbestos woven cabling, downpipes, fire doors, roof ventilators, and arc chutes just to name a few. See the images below to view the common asbestos containing material found in both types of sites.
